Privacy Policy
Haven collects what it needs to run your account and your Journey, and nothing for advertising. There are no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
Last updated October 5, 2026
This policy covers the Haven app for iPhone and this website, christianhaven.app. Haven is operated by Woo Jin Kang (“we”, “us”). If you have a question, write to hello@christianhaven.app.
What we collect
Your account
- Your name and email address, and your password, which we store only as a secure hash.
- Sign-in sessions, including the IP address and device type each one was created from, so you stay signed in and we can protect accounts from abuse.
Your onboarding answers
When you first open Haven we ask a few questions, such as where you are in your faith, what you’d like help with, how much time you have each day and when you’d like a reminder. Your answer about what you’re looking for chooses your first Journey. Answers are saved as you go under a random install identifier, before you have an account, and are linked to your account when you sign in. We use them to set up your Journey and, in aggregate, to see where people stop during onboarding so we can improve it.
Your progress
- Your Journey: the plan you’re on, the days you’ve completed and when, your streak and streak freezes, and your time zone, so “today” means today where you are.
- Your place in Bible stories: which ones you’ve opened or finished and where you stopped reading or listening.
Chat questions
When you ask one of the chat guides a question, your message and the earlier messages in that conversation are sent through our server to OpenAI to write the reply. We don’t store your conversations on our servers. Your chat history is kept only on your device. We record how many questions each account asks per week and the amount of text processed, to enforce fair-use limits and manage costs. Please don’t put sensitive personal details in chat messages.
Purchases
Subscriptions are bought through Apple’s App Store; we never see your payment card. We use RevenueCat to confirm whether your account has an active subscription. RevenueCat receives your Haven account identifier and your App Store purchase records, but not your name or email.
What stays on your device
Your chat history, saved and highlighted verses, reading preferences, downloaded stories and narration, and your daily reminder (a notification scheduled by your iPhone, not sent by us) stay on your device.
This website
christianhaven.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Like any website host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect against attacks.
How we use it
- To provide Haven: your account, your Journey, your progress across devices and answers to your questions.
- To keep it secure and fair: preventing abuse, rate-limiting sign-ins and chat, and fixing problems.
- To improve it: understanding, in aggregate, how onboarding and features are used.
- To reply when you contact us.
We don’t use your data for advertising, we don’t build advertising profiles, and we don’t sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers, each only to run Haven:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Runs Haven’s server | United States |
| Neon | Database for accounts and progress | United States |
| Cloudflare | Stores story art and audio; hosts this website | Global network |
| OpenAI | Writes chat replies | United States |
| RevenueCat | Confirms subscriptions | United States |
| Apple | App Store purchases and app delivery | Global |
OpenAI receives chat messages through its API and, under its API terms, does not use them to train its models. It may keep them for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes them. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your account, sign-in sessions, Journey, streak, story progress, chat usage counts and onboarding answers are deleted at once. Onboarding answers that were never linked to an account stay anonymous. Server logs and backups that may briefly contain this information are overwritten on their normal cycle.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by email. See how to delete your account.
- Access or correct your data, or get a copy of it, by writing to hello@christianhaven.app.
- Turn off reminders in the app or in your iPhone’s Settings.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU, the UK or New Zealand), you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. We’ll honour these requests wherever they apply, and we won’t treat you differently for making one.
Children
Haven is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Connections to Haven are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and your sign-in token is kept in your iPhone’s Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can reach it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
